MAKE A DIFFERENCE Scholarship Fund

The MAKE A DIFFERENCE Scholarship Fund was established by Joanna Myers in 2010 to assist financially needy students who wish to pursue higher education when life circumstances, financial or otherwise, might make achievement of such a goal unlikely. Mrs. Myers hopes these scholarships will truly make a difference in enabling recipients to achieve independence and skills necessary to have a comfortable standard of living and security.

The scholarships may be used for tuition, fees, books, and room and board at the student's school of choice (college, vocational or technical school, seminary, etc.). The scholarship may be automatically renewable for up to four-years.

Applicants must (1) be under the age of 20, (2) demonstrate significant financial hardship, (3) reside in the Seymour Community Schools district, (4) have documentation of enrollment or meet eligibility requirements for the certificate or degree program sought, (5) have a high level of motivation, determination and willingness to sacrifice in order to achieve their educational goals, and (6) provide two letters of recommendation from non-family members who can give information relative to moral character and other above mentioned criteria. Past academic performance and scores on any higher education examinations such as the ACT or SAT will be considered, as well as involvement and leadership in extracurricular, Christian, or community activities.
